Oh the places we've been

Hi everyone!  Let me begin by saying that the past two weeks have been awesome!! On Sunday April 3rd we went on our first float trip down the Mulberry River in Turner Bend, Arkansas.  Que bonita!!
We made it all the way down the river and then on the last turn we flipped the canoe over and went into the very cold water.  The worst part you ask?  My newly opened beer was lost!  We were able to recover everything except my sunglasses, and of course the beer and finished up the day with some minor scrapes and bruises on our egos.  We of course rested the next day but made a hasty plan to do some more exploring in the days to come.  So, we found ourselves at Beaver Lake after a beautiful scooter ride through the winding roads.
Well worth it!  We had a picnic of turkey sandwiches and peanut m&m's.   Enjoy the quiet with us.
After much deliberation of whether we should ditch the golf course right away and move here, we decided to complete our stay at the course and just keep exploring.  Next up, Devils Den State Park.
After an hour ride on the scooter to get here, our butts were screaming at us for a break!  So we took a hike and came to this awesome hand carved bridge where Richard was able to get in a moment of reflection and some peace and quiet as I was on a hunt to find some critters that I could photograph.  Here is the only one I was able to get, a butterfly camouflaged as a rock.
When we left, we took the hog off-roading for the next picture, that's right people, off-road.
On the drive home we stopped at one more spot just to remind ourselves of what we were missing out on.
I know!!! Crazy beautiful for Arkansas!!
The next day we went out on the Buffalo River (upon a reccomendation) and low and behold, the views were even more spectacular...

Well, at least the waterfall is scenic.  (I don't know why we have to spoil everything.)

Just so everyone knows, on this trip we did not flip the canoe.  We, I mean I, learned from my mistake.  I did not have any beer on this trip, as I am certain that after 5 Arkansas beers (5.8 content) during a 5 hour float, that I was in fact the reason why our canoe tipped in the first place.

We have had so much fun on the rivers during these past couple of days that we made an executive decision to have this much fun whenever we want.  So, we bought a kayak!
Behind me in the picture is Beaver Lake, NOT a river.  That means we had to do a lot of work to make it worth our while to even set this contraption up.  Not to mention, it is still April and the water is not pleasant when it is being sprayed on your back from the wind blowing.  But, funny enough, still a better day then one spent at work.  Oh, and yes Mom and Dad, we bought floatation devices.
That night when we got home, this is what we saw...
(Here's to you Steph and Steve...Not quite Jamaica but it will do for now.)

I think, to wrap the past two weeks up, I should say that when Stay at Home Moms used to say to me, "I am so much more busy now than what I was when I was working", I would definitely have to agree.  We just now found some time to relax, how ironic.
